Radon Diagnostic Testing

To a trained tester Grab samples can be a good indicator of radon levels in the home. The radon source as a general rule is 10 times greater than the average radon level in the home. If your home has a radon level of 6 pCi/l, we look for a radon source around 60 pCi/l.

FAQs About Diagnostic Testing

What is the purpose of radon diagnostic testing?
Radon diagnostic testing for buildings is done to understand and assess conditions that could lead to high radon levels or to evaluate the effectiveness of radon mitigation systems. It helps identify potential radon entry points and ensures the safety of occupants by addressing radon-related concerns.
When should radon diagnostic testing be conducted?
Radon diagnostic testing should be performed when you suspect elevated radon levels, during building inspections, or when you want to confirm the efficiency of a radon mitigation system. Regular testing is also advisable if you live in an area with a known radon risk.
What methods are used in radon diagnostic testing?
Radon diagnostic testing methods can include visual inspections, pressure field extension tests, and other specialized techniques. These methods help identify potential entry points, assess ventilation systems, and determine the overall radon risk within a building. Our professional radon experts can provide recommendations for mitigation if necessary.

Diagnostic Tests

Diagnostic testing is the procedure used to identify or characterize conditions within buildings that may contribute to radon entry, elevated radon levels, or may provide information regarding the performance of a mitigation system. Testing for radon entry can be done with several different types of equipment.

The photos below include short explanations showing some of the different diagnostic testing equipment we use at VSI Radon Reduction Corp. Diagnostic testing is not always about measuring radon levels, often it’s about determining the direction of air flow.
